Asana Practice: Yoga, Core Strength, and Back Health: Keys to Pain-Free Living
It is well-known that core strengthening is one of the most important ways to keep your back healthy and enjoy pain-free living.
However, when most people hear the term “core strengthening,” they think of strength work for the abdominals, such as crunches, curl-ups, and sit-ups. Unfortunately, these exercises tend to strengthen mainly the superficial muscles on the front of the abdomen, the so-called mirror muscles. In reality, the deeper muscles of the abdominal wall are much more important in supporting the spine and pelvis.
Not only that, but abdominal work is only part of the picture: strengthening only the abdominals can create an imbalance between the abdominal and back muscles that can contribute to back pains and strains.
During this workshop we will explore the keys to strengthening the core in a balanced and holistic way to protect your spine. The focus will be on working with the key muscles of the core cylinder, including the back muscles, while ditching painful sit-ups.
Together we will learn and experience why it’s critical also to strengthen key hip muscles that help align and center your pelvis, which is, after all, the foundation of your spine. These thigh-to-pelvis muscles include the hip abductors and extensors.
During this session, we will practice poses that strengthen all the essential torso and pelvis muscles needed for strong core integrity and keep the spine balanced and healthy. We’ll also include some more complex options for those who are looking for greater challenges.

Asana Practice: Bending Over Backward: The Why and How of Practicing and Teaching Backbends
Backbends are important. They’re important for opening the front of the body which we close normally. We stretch the intercostal muscles between the ribs and we stretch the front of the diaphragm. Both of this help breathing as we age and as we live this practice. Energetically, backbends squeeze the back kidneys and open the front kidneys and affects somewhat the adrenal glands. Back bends energetically are often suggested for two ends of the spectrum of our emotional state. They can be good for depression. They can also be good for the opposite when we’re very agitated if we do a supported backbend in which the head is lower than the heart. That can be very internalizing and quieting and reduce the Dosha of Vatta.
The more we age, the more backbends we need to do (:
It is all about our intention of doing this pose and not the pose itself.
We all need backbends in our lives.
This workshop will include theoretical studies of anatomy & kinesiology as well as psychological effects back bends create.
Join us to explore, practice and enjoy backbends! It will be fun!

Rona Ilan, Greece 2019
I participated in a yoga retreat led by Vicky in Greece, on May 2019. We were an intimate group of wonderful people, sharing five days together on a beautiful island, practicing yoga in sunrise and meditation in sun dawn every day, exploring the island, eating delicious Greek homemade meals and most importantly, zooming out of our hectic everyday lives and tuning in to our deeper wishes and desires.
With her unique relaxed and fun-loving approach, Vicky led this very personal retreat with a lot of sensitivity and knowledge, she was in every detail, and took this retreat also as part of her own personal development journey, and it really showed.
My take at the end of the retreat was that living a life you don't need a vacation from is my current goal. While working on that :) I'm waiting for my next retreat with Vicky, as I feel this is so much more than a vacation, this is a time to relax, smile, recharge, and practice the art of designing your daily life as a vacation.
Thank you Vicky :)
Maytal Hadari, Yoga Retreat
I found that Yoga retreat are a good way for me to take a break and to do what I love. A way of deepening my daily practice, enjoy good food and good rest.
You can be sure that Vicky will find the best place, with the best view and the food will be great! On top of that is the teacher(: vicky can see what you need in your practice and walks you and give you the exact challenge you need.
Namaste and much love,
When I step onto my yoga mat, I take the time to discover myself. But there is so much to explore, especially postpartum, and so little time to do it right. In this "Trust Yourself First" weekend you insightfully and professionally built a perfect training program that gave me tools and pointers to finetune my self-practice. Your deep knowledge in anatomy provided me with the opportunity to learn what is best for my new postpartum body. Now my yoga practice feels much better and me and my body thank you so much!!
I definitely trust myself more now and can't wait for your next course "Rooting before flying".
My retreat with Vicky was a gift for myself.
Being a working mom with two little kids after covid year felt like the right time for some ME time.. Vicky for me is more than a yoga teacher. She takes you to her own journey, we grow together with our body and mind and practicing with her feels like it's the first time every time. She constantly improving and learning new things and share them with us.
A good outcome for me was to practice yoga as much as I can in this retreat.
But Vicky's way was to leave a mark and bring back to people the magic glimpse of yoga. Let people want to explore their own journey. Yesterday was the yoga international day, I went to a magic place for 108 sun salutation and my friend who were with me in the retreat went to a yoga class after two years she stopped practicing.
So thank you Vicky for taking us with you into your journey and spreading yoga love in this world
Galia (Lihi's mother)
I wanted to share with you my feelings from the weekend at Beit Oren.
I came to this weekend after a very long time not practicing yoga and I must tell you, I came out feeling wonderful and with a strong desire to return to yoga in full force.
Practicing with you, your knowledge and your way of delivering ques and instructions were perfect to me. I enjoyed every moment and there is no doubt that if you had taught classes in the country, I would follow you everywhere. Honestly (:
And if you return to Israel, I would love to hear about your future retreats.

These 5 days with you in Greece allowed me a great break from all the outside noise, it gave me the opportunity to pause, to rest and to learn new skills. I missed you and your way of seeing things. I am very glad that opportunity to practice and spend some time with you.

We really enjoyed the retreat in Greece, it was our first time. It was a very unique and different experience from our usual daily lives, getting up so early in the morning and doing yoga twice a day. We really enjoyed exploring the stunning island together and relaxing in the beautiful hotel and relaxing beaches.
Thank you for the all the yoga sessions, which were challenging but refreshing and fulfilling, which improved our abilities in yoga in only 5 days. All this was delivered in a fun and easy atmosphere
