I've just returned from a 10-day yoga & hypnotherapy retreat in Goa, where I spent time teaching, practicing, and soaking in the shimmering silence, beauty, and energy of Mother India.
Most of the days were spent reflecting—through yoga, meditation, silent beach walks, savoring slow living, and deep conversations about how this place makes us feel whole and present. We read, napped, and debated whether to opt for a full-body massage or just head and feet. By the end of the retreat, every part of us had been lovingly tended to!
When it was time to return home, my heart shrank, knowing that soon my days would be filled with dirty dishes, piles of laundry, rushing from one activity to another with the kids, and braving the cold winter weather. (And, of course, no one to appreciate my new bronze tan! 😊)
But retreating is what makes the mundane bearable—and even special. Without the day-to-day chores, these sacred moments of "Me Time" wouldn’t hold the same beauty and meaning.
In our closing circle, everyone shared what they were taking home. The unanimous sentiment?
"This peace and happiness will stay with me, reminding me to complain less, live more, and make better choices."
We all need time away to zoom out, gain a fresh perspective, feel grateful, and stop focusing on what we lack. It’s easy to get sucked into the tornado of life, societal demands, and the pressure to overachieve. But when we retreat, we pause, reflect, and see ourselves and life in a new light—through lenses of fulfillment and transformation.
My cup is full, and today, I’m enjoying the rainy day—slowing my landing, softening my heart, and adjusting to my “real” life as a mom of three once again.
