It Is Never 50/50.

I just got back from our Yoga & Healing retreat in Thailand.

I wish I could stay in Thailand forever: who can say no to sunny & sandy beaches, delicious Thai food, perfect massages on the beach, and spectacular sunrises?

Combine all those goodies with a group of amazing people who joined the retreat, and you got yourself a heaven, right?

This is one of the reasons why I love so much to lead retreats.

But, I also enjoy returning home to spend time with my family. Traveling, in my opinion, is beautiful and essential, but it’s the balance between both the mundane and the extraordinary that makes the getaway so sweet.

The question I get asked frequently once the experience of a Retreat is over is this: ‘’How the heck can I keep myself motivated, inspired, energized, peaceful, and content when I am not on a Retreat?’’

Well, what helped me the most is to keep showing up for myself, day after day, no matter what life circumstances are. To show up daily I need some anchors in my life:

  • Describe in writing your favorite daily routine to keep you going and block it in your calendar (create time, don’t look for time, and don’t skip it as it is the most important meeting with yourself)

  • Create a supportive environment (Ask for help and support from your loved ones to maintain your routine)

  • Repeat the habits that worked for you on the retreat even in small nuggets (hot water with this slice of lemon and ginger, 10 min of yoga, 5 min of morning writing, 1 min of silent sitting, one conscience breath during a day, etc)

  • Continue to cultivate your curiosity and your love for life, yoga, healing, etc…(sign up for workshops, listen to podcasts, and read motivating literature ).

  • Surround yourself with people that encourage & support you to walk the path you chose.

  • Replace old habits that deplete you with nourishing ones (go to bed earlier, wake up 15 min before the usual, don’t snooze your alarm, change your eating habits, don’t use your phone at least for 30 min after waking up, watch your thoughts, be aware of what triggers you and why and be more compassionate and kinder to yourself)

And remember: this process is a lifetime practice but it works only if you do it (:

As some of you already know, one of the daily habits that I love cultivating is listening to inspiring podcasts.

And the first podcast I got to listen to since I am back is:

It is never 50/50 in our relationships, says Brené.

Whether it is your personal relationship, business, or family, there is always one person who can give more while the other has much less. The secret is to share your level of energy and find a way to support each other. Brilliant!

I found the podcast mind-blowing. I kept taking notes while listening to make sure I will incorporate them into my daily life. I hope you will find it resourceful as I did.

Today’s video is about creating a healthy posture while sitting.

May it serve you.
