This Weekend we celebrated Michael’s, also known as Mishka (a Teddy bear in Russian), birthday. He turned 8.
His pregnancy wasn’t planned (not that you can plan those things really, but you know what I mean, right?)
I was just about to travel for 2 weeks with a group of yoga students to far exotic India when I received the news that I will not be traveling solo (the pregnancy stick got positive…hhh)
But, the Universe knows better, and the plan was accurate because his birth was a big blessing and a life changer for me. My boy knew to be born at the right time and the right place in my life.
He gave me strength, faith, and love when I needed it the most.
He made me resilient to survive the most difficult time of my life.
You see, my mom passed away when Mishka turned out to be exactly 6 months old. It broke me apart. Imagine, that I had a father who needed my support as I am his only family left, a yoga studio to manage and to teach full time, AND I had a new baby to take care of. It left me no space for my own grieving, for me to miss my mom.
The following two years were the most devastating.
Today, I understand that giving life to another human being was what saved my sanity.
Happy Birthday my little one, keep dreaming, falling, flying, learning, loving, and never stop playing!
Mishka, I love you!
I called this Newsletter, It Shall Be, inspired by another super fun podcast by Mel Robbins where she tells the story about her tattoo ‘’It shall be’’.
I like this mantra, it reminds me that if you put in the hard work, you keep showing up, keep doing your thing, believe in the process, have faith and rise after each fall, It Shall Be!!!
It made me think about what would be my Life Line in case I would get a tattoo.
I am considering: You Got This! What do you think?
But until I get a tattoo (: I will write my lifeline on a note (: and will put it where I can see it.
Whatever you are dreaming of, remember that: It shall be, just be consistent with your work and keep the faith.
I consider creating a retreat named ‘’It Shall Be’’ in Kenya in 2024. Will you join me?
Before I go, I want to wish you and your family Happy Holidays, whether it is Easter that you are celebrating or Pessah.
If you don't like the holiday season or if you feel overwhelmed, that's ok. Think of a meaningful phrase, a mantra , that can help to go through difficult times and to remind you that you can do it.
Then, write your favorite Mantra on a posted note and stick it to the mirror, on your computer, next to your bedside, or any other visible place (environmental trigger).
Looking at it will give you the superpowers of stamina, encouragement, resilience, empathy, and love that you deserve to hear.
I love the following ones: you can borrow them (:
How Human of me
Trust yourself first
I love you
I believe in You
It's the little things that count
Go, Girl!
You can do this!
You will be ok.
It will also pass
One breath at a time.
You are not your thoughts
In case nobody told you this today: ‘’You got this, I believe in you!’’
Today's video is about a free flow to ground you and at the same time to energize you during the Holidays.
May it serve your practice and your nervous system.
